With its unique climate and later growing season, plant development in Scotland may be behind crops grown further south, often providing the opportunity for laying down trials much later in the season.

This region specialises in cereal, oilseed rape and potato trials. The cool, moist conditions are ideal for Septoria and light leaf spot and enable the growing of a wide range of vegetable crops, including carrots, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and onions, interspersed with pockets of soft fruit, often grown in a protected environment.
